Schroders puts its emerging-markets bond strategy onto Solana via Centrifuge

The $1 trillion-plus UK manager extends its Schroder International Selection Fund Emerging Market Bond strategy onchain through Centrifuge, its first Solana deployment.

Schroders, the London-based asset manager with more than $1 trillion under management, has extended its Schroder International Selection Fund Emerging Market Bond strategy onchain through Centrifuge on Solana, according to a report from The Block published November 4, 2026. It is Schroders' first deployment on Solana, and the first actively managed emerging-markets debt fund to appear on the chain through Centrifuge's RWA rails. French outlet Cryptoast separately reports an underlying fund size of about $2.2 billion across sovereign and corporate EM debt.

What happened

Centrifuge, an RWA tokenization platform that runs across Ethereum, Base and Solana, has made the Schroders EM bond strategy available as a tokenized feeder fund. Investors hold tokenized shares that route into Schroders' existing Schroder International Selection Fund Emerging Market Bond — a strategy covering sovereign, corporate and local-currency debt from developing markets, with roughly $2.2 billion in AUM per Cryptoast's reporting.

Neither The Block nor Cryptoast names a ticker for the on-Solana token or discloses the initial subscription size. The Block characterises the move as expanding "the range of onchain actively managed funds," distinguishing it from the mostly passive Treasury wrappers that dominate current tokenized-fund inventory.

Mechanism

Centrifuge's Solana pipeline is the same infrastructure it used earlier this year to bring New York Life Investment Management's high-yield corporate bond fund onchain, and that Anemoy uses for its deJTRSY Treasury token. The pattern is consistent:

  1. The off-chain Schroders feeder fund holds the subscription cash and invests in the parent EM bond strategy.
  2. Centrifuge issues a Solana-native token representing the feeder's shares.
  3. Subscriptions, redemptions and NAV updates reconcile between the fund administrator and the onchain supply.

Schroders is not running validator or custody duties on Solana; Centrifuge handles the wrapper. The parent fund remains regulated under Schroders' existing Luxembourg SICAV structure.

Why this lands now

Schroders' tokenization pipeline is not new. In August 2026 the firm received regulatory approval in Ireland for tokenized shares of a dollar money market fund branded SOAR, per Cryptoast's recap. The EM debt rollout is the next step — an actively managed, non-Treasury product on a public chain the firm had not previously touched.

Centrifuge is also widening its asset mix. Prior onchain wrappers on its Solana stack have been dominated by short-duration Treasurys. Adding an EM bond strategy — with real credit, duration and FX exposure — changes the risk profile of what trades on that infrastructure.

John Mensack, senior investment director for fixed income at Schroders, said in a statement quoted by both outlets: "Emerging markets debt is an asset class where experience, local insight and active management are particularly important." Operations chief Marita McGinley framed the launch as "further evidence of our commitment to developing world-class investment solutions," per The Block.

Numbers

- Schroders AUM : $1.1 trillion (Cryptoast)
- Underlying EM bond fund AUM : ~$2.2 billion (Cryptoast)
- Platform : Centrifuge
- Chain : Solana (first Schroders deployment)
- Fund structure : Luxembourg SICAV feeder
- Prior tokenized Schroders product : SOAR USD MMF (Ireland, Aug 2026)
- RWA on Solana (RWA.xyz, per Cryptoast): ~$4.9 B (~12.4% market share)
- Total tokenized RWA market : ~$39.4 B
- Ethereum share : ~$15.1 B (~38.3%)

Impact

For Schroders: A listed EM bond strategy with active credit selection, on a public chain, through a third-party wrapper. The fund sits alongside the firm's SOAR money-market product but targets a different institutional buyer — one with a risk budget for EMD and a DeFi-adjacent treasury workflow.

For Centrifuge: The platform now has an actively managed, non-Treasury asset running on Solana. That diversifies the kinds of collateral its tokens can represent on DeFi venues that already integrate deJTRSY and the New York Life high-yield bond fund.

For Solana RWA share: RWA.xyz figures cited by Cryptoast put Solana's tokenized RWA market share at around 12.4%, versus 38.3% for Ethereum. Adding a $2.2 B parent fund — even if only a fraction tokenizes initially — nudges that mix. Reporting around subscription take-up will be the real test; neither article discloses a subscription figure.

Context

The pattern is familiar: a top-10 global asset manager picks a tokenization specialist, picks a public chain, launches a feeder product, keeps the parent fund in a conventional wrapper. JPMorgan did this with its JPMD on Ethereum, covered in our JPMD mainnet post. Janus Henderson's tokenized Nasdaq-100 product arrived on Stellar via Centrifuge in an earlier announcement; Morgan Stanley's DTS equities and Treasurys launch was the subject of our earlier post today. What's shifted since mid-2025 is the chain mix — Solana now gets regulated-feeder products from large managers, not just pilot Treasury wrappers.

What to watch

  1. Initial subscription size for the Schroders Solana feeder — Schroders and Centrifuge have not published it.
  2. Any secondary-market venue integration — whether the token lists on DeFi lending markets, and at what collateralization factor.
  3. Luxembourg CSSF or Irish Central Bank commentary — EM debt tokenization touches investor-protection questions that short-duration Treasurys dodge.
  4. Whether a second G-SIB asset manager follows Schroders onto Solana within the quarter.
