Spot BTC ETFs lose $643M on Oct 30, largest single-day outflow since June

SoSoValue data pin Friday's net outflow at $643.3M for spot bitcoin ETFs and $155.9M for spot ether ETFs — the biggest BTC daily outflow since June 25 and the largest ETH outflow since October 7.

US spot bitcoin ETFs registered $643.3 million in net outflows on Friday, October 30, 2026 — their largest single-day outflow since June 25 and the week's dominant print — per SoSoValue data reported by The Block on Nov 1. Spot ether ETFs lost $155.9 million on the same day, the largest since October 7. Weekly net outflows ran to $202.6M for the BTC baskets and $431.5M for the ETH baskets. US spot BTC ETF net assets are cited at $98.14 billion, from Laevitas. Secondary coverage: Crypto Briefing.

What happened

The Friday prints landed on the second trading day after Binance disclosed its October 29 hot-wallet drain, with risk still being repriced across crypto beta. The SoSoValue dashboard, which aggregates the eleven US spot bitcoin trusts and the nine US spot ether trusts, is the data source The Block and Crypto Briefing both cite. The underlying inputs are the issuers' own creation/redemption reports filed with each fund's trustee at end-of-day settlement.

Two reads line up on the same tape:

  • BTC ETFs: $643.3M out on Oct 30, $202.6M out on the week. The Oct 30 figure is bigger than the net weekly print — meaning net inflows on at least one other session partially offset. "Largest since June 25" is a statement about single-day magnitude, not a cumulative streak.
  • ETH ETFs: $155.9M out on Oct 30, $431.5M out on the week — the single-day print is less than half of the weekly net, so ETH ETF selling was more spread across sessions than the BTC side.

Crypto Briefing adds a monthly frame for October: BTC ETF outflows approaching $516M and ETH ETF outflows above $1.6B, with the ETH basket on a 23-day net-outflow streak into month-end — the longest consecutive run on those products since launch. The Block does not restate the monthly figures; take the October numbers as Crypto Briefing's and the Friday / weekly numbers as The Block / SoSoValue's.

Impact — who is positioned which way

The Oct 30 outflow lands in a week where Binance also restarted withdrawals on Nov 1 (see our Nov 1 reopen post) and spot BTC traded in the low $78,000 range into Monday. Three reads for market participants:

  • ETF market makers: the Oct 30 Friday print is a creation-redemption dislocation to size against; weekly net outflow is one-third the Friday single-day, so Mon-to-Thu flows were net positive. Positioning entering Nov 2 is cleaner than the weekly headline implies.
  • Allocators holding IBIT, FBTC and peers: Oct 30 was the largest since June 25, not since launch — the April 2026 cycle still owns the single-day record on both baskets. The data provider for both prints is SoSoValue; the methodology is unchanged.
  • ETH-basket desks: a 23-day net-outflow streak into month-end is the operational anomaly here, not any single Friday number. The streak length cited by Crypto Briefing is longer than any run the ETH basket has strung together since launch in July 2024.

No story in either source attributes outflows to a specific issuer by name. BlackRock and Fidelity are referenced in general terms by Crypto Briefing as "frequently appearing to drive the direction of daily flows," without per-fund figures. Reader looking for issuer attribution should go directly to the public SoSoValue dashboard or each trust's daily T+0 flow report.

Context — the pattern across the quarter

Our prior ETF-flow coverage this cycle on this site noted the summer June 25 single-day record and the Q3 pattern of ETH basket outflows outweighing BTC. Oct 30 extends both. The specific markers to watch into November:

  • Nov 3 close — the first full trading week since Binance's incident; SoSoValue daily T+1 reporting will show whether the Oct 30 Friday was a one-off repricing or the start of a run.
  • The ETH streak — a break would need net inflow across the nine ETH trusts on a single session; the simplest check is Farside's or SoSoValue's daily table.
  • Issuer-level creations — if a single trust (typically IBIT on the BTC side) accounts for most of a given day's redemption, that is a liquidity-provider rotation rather than directional conviction and should not be read as broad allocator exit.

No price prediction follows from any of the above. These are flow prints; what they mean for the next session is the reader's call.
